Holy Trinity Episcopal Church is a Special Place

Without people, a church is nothing but an empty building.  And for many, the quality that makes Holy Trinity such a special place is its people--the good, honest and loving folks who have made Holy Trinity their spiritual home.  Our parishioners are a diverse group.  They come from all parts of the country, and all walks of life.  They hold varied opinions about political matters and social issues.  They work, they are retired and they attend school.  Some are life-long Episcopalians and others began in other denominations before becoming Episcopalians.  But they all are united in a love of Christ, and a commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.

Our History...

Image
Rich In Serving God
Holy Trinity as a very long history with it's initial roots  here in Sumter County dating back to 1882 when the area was first being established. Wrote Thomas Vincent, vestry secretary in 1886, "The want of an Episcopal Church and a clergyman in the English Colony known as Chetwynd, Lake County, Florida, has been for some time felt, and a movement has been made to obtain subscriptions to erect a Church in the colony.  The only available services are those few held by the Rev. Dr. [John B. C.] Beaubien at Leesburg and Gardenia [Fruitland Park].  These meetings being considered as of too irregular a type to meet our needs, a general meeting of the colony has been called for July 3, 1886, to assemble at a general place, Stapylton & Company's dining hall to discuss what steps shall be taken to provide the neighborhood with a church and a rector."

Since then our vision is to be known as an open and welcoming church serving the spiritual and secular needs of the community.
