Situated about six miles from Holy Trinity, The Villages has already had its impact on the parish, with about 40 percent of its members living in the Villages. The Villages boasts two town squares and offers its residents their own newspaper and magazine, as well as their own radio and TV stations. It also has over 25 golf courses, numerous recreation centers, and a host of
other amenities such as tennis courts, swimming facilities, and fishing areas. While the average income of Fruitland Park is $51,235 (2007), the average income for homebuyers in The Villages is $74,300.
The most significant impact of the large-scale community development has been the rapid influx of scores of restaurants, banks, and numerous retail businesses. Rivaling this commercial boom has been an explosive growth of infrastructure, particularly health care services, including a new 198-bed hospital. One Fruitland Park couple noted that they live “just 5 miles from The Villages (a thriving community with ….many cultural events as well as some of the finest dining and shopping locations you will find any where in the world). “
