A Note From Father Michael
“My dear friends, what a surprise Spring Fling was
for me! I thought it was at the Fling, but I knew her
mother had invited her. I did not figure out what was
going on during the gifting of the wine opener and the
proclamation concerning stewardship. It was not until
we got to Frances Justison reading her poem that
things began to fall into
place. A friend made a
plaque for me one time
long ago which said,
"Michael, you are not
responsible for the sins
of the world" Frances
your message said the
same thing, it is ok to
let go. Thank you.
“Don Pruett, thank you for my parking spot sign. As
Sunday attendance continues to grow I may leave it in
MY pew to assure my favorite seat. Hank Childs, the
wine opener is something every good churchman or
woman can use so I appreciate having my very own,
as well as for the stewardship proclamation. God
thought up that approach; all I did was implement it.
“Last Sunday I had asked Dianne Casson if
we had the money to buy a sterling silver paten to
distribute the host (bread). She gave me some
answer which did not answer my question. On the
way home from
church, I said to
Amy, "Maybe we
could "save up"
and buy a sterling
chalice and paten
for Holy Trinity." I
really want our
church to have the
very best, and I felt
sterling altar appointments were needed. What a
blessing to be given the opportunity to purchase such
a gift for the church! My deepest thanks.”

Spring Fling 09 - Fun Friday Fete
About 80 Parishioners and friends gathered on
May 22nd to “surprise” Fr. Michael and honor his
service. Our new fearless leader, Fr. Larry Recla,
began the festivities with a prayer and blessing. The
thinly disguised barbeque-pot luck was a great
success as everyone
dined on home-made
barbeque and a huge
variety of pot-luck
specialties, and then
danced under the
laser lights to the
sounds of D.J. Denny
Rogers.
Of course, the
real purpose of the evening was to honor Fr. Michael
Rowell’s retirement after leading the Parish through a
time of great spiritual and physical renewal. After all
the diners had traveled through the massive dessert
buffet, Sr. Warden Donna Bott led the Vestry and
Parish into testimonial territory. Hank Childs offered a
writ of stewardship through a certificate and a wine
opener, while Frances Justison read a beautiful poem
celebrating the honored guest.
At this point,
Donna described
how the Parish felt it
could best honor
Michael’s service and
presented him with
our collective gift of
$2,700 for him to go
shopping for a
“suitable” sterling silver chalice set for Holy Trinity. The
set will be engraved to honor Fr. Rowell, and our
Priest-in-Charge, Fr. Larry, then announced that Fr.
Michael will be the first to elevate the chalice once it
arrives. Michael was suitably “choked up” over the
event, but admitted he figured something was going on
since his daughter Margaret and her friend were at the
event as well.

New
Committee for Church Organ Formed
At its last meeting the Vestry created an organ
committee to investigate the purchase of a new organ
and report back its findings and recommendations.
That committee met on Friday morning, May 22, and
considered various builders and dealers in this area.
The committee decided that only companies with a
strong presence in the Central Florida market would
be considered. Those dealers represent Allen,
Johannus, and Rodgers organs. The committee then
determined that the
Allen line was not
cost-effective.
After visiting the
chancel of the church
and
carefully
considering the size
and placement of
each proposed
console, the price of
each instrument, the number of stops s to tak e the
next step of going to churches which have nearly-and
other features, and the reputations of both dealers, the
committee plans to visit identical installations to listen
to the sound of each organ. It will then make a
determination and report that recommendation to the
Vestry.
The committee is moving expeditiously but
thoroughly to select the best instrument to serve the
needs of the parish for the next 30 years or so. "We
hope to have a decision by the end of June," said
committee chairman Don Pruitt. The other committee
members include Shirley Buzzell, Sharon Redding,
Lee Shawcross, Barb Coulter, and Donna Bott and Fr.
Recla, ex officio.
The organ project is the final phase of the
Heritage Campaign.
Parishioners Knitting Prayer Shawls
A group of women get together to k notty or
crochet lovely, which are give away to give comfort
and love care to someone is ill. It’s a simple, friendly
gesture to someone in need of a little TLC and prayer.
The group hopes to build up a stock pile, and
currently 8 people are involved, creating different
styles. The work itself can also be prayerful and
meditative. The completed shawls are k ept in Fr.
Larry’s office. Speak to him or Ruth if you are in need
of one.
Those wishing to become involved in the creation
of prayer shawls, please see or call Terry Colla at 352-

“I will always treasure Emil Pignetti’s photographs of
the church and the wonderful frames made out of
wood from the church by Jerry Wang. What a
wonderful and thoughtful present for someone who
loves Holy Trinity as I do. Every time I round the
corner and see the church with its fresh paint I feel
thankful and happy.
“I do not k now who spearheaded this but I intend
to begin laying the blame on Donna Bott. I suspect the
Vestry was in with her. Thank you to all who made
this such a special time for me. As I said at the Fling, I
had no party when I retired because of my illness. The
Fling was a wonderful way to complete my ministry at
Holy Trinity and to have the retirement party I never
had.
“I have no idea who or what I have left out. What
happened before dinner I remember well. When the
presentations began the main thing I remember was
being overwhelmed with love. I have attempted to say
what’s in my heart. Right now it is full of joy and
thanksgiving all because of you, the people of Holy
Trinity. Thank you with all my heart.”

Friday Fun
(cont’d from page 1)
Michael then honored his love and life partner
Amy, with whom he has traveled these past forty
years. Emil Pignetti presented two beautiful photos of
the Church, custom framed by Jerry Wang with wood
from the old
parish floor, as a
final gift. The
honors ended
with Donna
leading the entire
Parish in a
“Great Bow” of
gratitude.
At that point,
the dance floor lit up with strobes and lasers and DJ
Denny began spinning music, our celebration being
confined to the Parish Hall due to some much needed
rain outside. Earlier in the day, a large group of
volunteers assembled large psychedelic butterflies; the
strobes & lasers were hung; the hall decorated and
“set” and the large school-lights covered in colorful
sacks to assure that there
would be plenty of “safe
dancing” (Good Methodists
take note!).
This event was actually a
combined effort of the Vestry
and the Fellowship Folkes,
but none of these wonderful
parties would ever tak e place
without the generous
volunteering of dozens of
parishioners helping to
decorate, set-up, work
kitchen detail and help in the
all-important clean-up.
Holy Trinity School Graduates 5 Students
On June 29th, under beautiful skies, five seniors
of Holy Trinity School
graduated to the cheers
and applause of nearly
80 spectators. At the
same time, nine eighth-
graders graduated from
the middle school and
will continue on in the
f all as Sophomores.
The evening began
with hors d’oeuvres and
then a sit-down meal of salad greens, Mediterranean
Chicken Marbella, noodles and baby green beans.
Members of the staff and faculty as well as the Vestry
joined the graduates, before joining up with many
others in the Church for the actual graduation
ceremony.
The Church was quite full as fellow students,
f amily members and friends came to wish both of the
graduating classes all the best. After the ceremony,
everyone came back to the Parish Hall for cake and
coffee.
Deep thanks to
the many volunteers
who helped with
setting up the hall
with beautiful table
arrangements, and
then helped prepare,
serve and clean-up
after the meal. It was
a special evening for
these young people: one they will remember with
f ondness the rest of their lives.
