“Spring Fling ‘09
Friday, May 22- 6pm
Barbeque Picnic Dinner &
Dancing under the Stars-
Dress: Beachy- Springy- Lighter than Air!
It’s no secret that Holy Trinity does three things
extremely well! First, we worship together with great
joy. Second, we play a mean game of golf with the
Holy Hackers. Third, we love to eat and dance!
On Friday, May 22nd at 6pm the Vestry and the
Fellowship Folkes are proud to present “Spring Fling
’09.” This FREE event will feature a two barbeque
main courses with covered-dish sides, salads and
desserts. The parish will provide soft-drinks & coffee.
The evening will include dancing under the stars,
by way of the giant disco ball and lights, with our
favorite DJ Denny Rogers. Dinner starts at 6pm, with
dancing from 7-9pm out on the patio.
The Spring Fling will include two (or more) k inds
of pulled-pork barbeque prepared by Rob Michaels.
In addition to the traditional barbeque sauce style,
there will also be a magical medley of North Carolina
style barbeque with authentic vinegar and served with
sweet slaw. Rumor has it that there may also be
South Carolina mustard style barbeque as well, but
this reporter has been unable to get Rob to spill the
beans.
Parishioners are asked to bring favorite side
dishes, casseroles, salads & desserts to accompany
the main-course barbeque. There will be plenty of the
palate pleasing pulled pork at the event, correcting
the oversight of the great jambalaya shortage of
Mardi Gras 2009!
Sign up entails two steps: 1.) Sign up with the
number of people coming- feel free to bring a few
friends or neighbors- in the appropriate area for the
type of dish you’re planning to make. 2.) Stop by the
volunteer area to sign up to help out with the event.
Remember, this one’s a freebie, and we’ve got a
great year in store for fellowship!
Search Committee Completes
Extensive Parish Profile
Major Milestone Reached
The Search Committee has completed a major
step in the process of locating our next priest. The
Parish Profile is finished. After much work by
members of the committee and by you, the Holy
Trinity community, the document describing who we
are is done. The committee put on a thorough
presentation of the document between services on
May 2 that had about 1/3 of the Parish in attendance.
As you may remember, the milestones in the
search process include:
Preparing a profile of our parish
Obtaining nominations
Screening candidates
Issuing a call
Preparing the profile is a critical step in the process
because it is the mechanism that we use to measure
everything we decide to do in securing a permanent
Rector.
The Bishop’s office uses the profile to select a list
of priests for us to consider as nominees. The
Search committee uses the profile to review that list
and determine which nominees we feel are the best
candidates for our priest. The candidates use the
profile to begin to know us and decide if they feel they
might fit in our community.
The Committee uses it as the basis for
interviewing candidates. And finally, the Vestry uses
it to measure the fit with our community as they
decide on calling our new priest. That’s a lot of
weight for one document to carry!
For anyone interested, you can view the
document at the Holy Trinity website
(www.holytrinityfp.com). For those of you without
internet access, copies will be available for viewing in
the parish office.
The next step, obtaining nominations, is done at
the Diocesan office, and should be finished within the
next couple of weeks. Then the committee will begin
the process of screening candidates.

Sanctuary Light now a Burning Candle.
Each candle burns for seven days
At this year’s Great Vigil of Easter, sparks struck
from flint and steel fell into a bowl of kosher salt and
alcohol placed on the baptismal. As Father Michael lit
the Paschal Candle from that flame we prayed, “Holy
Father, accept our evening sacrifice, the offering of
this candle in your honor. May it shine continually to
drive away all darkness.”
All of the candles were lit from that same flame,
including the new Sanctuary Candle, which now
hangs in our chancel. Each Wednesday the flame
from the old candle will be “transferred” to a new one,
until next year’s Good Friday Service, when it will be
extinguished.
Every time you look at the flame, remember from
whence it came and the circumstances of its kindling,
“This is the night, when Christ broke the bonds of
death and hell, and rose victorious from the grave.”
If you wish to sponsor the burning of the
Sanctuary Lamp, it will be noted in the bulletin and on
the web page as being in honor of, in memory of, or
in thank sgiving for someone, as you wish. Sign up in
the parish hall or call the office to reserve your
week(s). Please make your check out to HTEC and
mark “Sanctuary Candle” in the memo. The cost is
only five dollars for one week
.
For those weeks not sponsored, the candle will
be noted as burning in honor of, “Christ, the Morning
Star... who gives His light to all creation.”
Holy Trinity Episcopal School graduation
ceremony for middle and high school
graduates will be on May 29, 2009 at 7:00
PM in the Church. All parish members

cultures in the world.
Holy Trinity School Board Report.
School will be in session for the 2009-2010
school year. The board met this evening (4/14) to
discuss a number of items that will be covered in
minutes to be distributed to you later. Also of note is
that the local Eagles Club presented a $3,000 grant
to the school. They had previously gifted the school
with $100 for each student for the purchase of
Christmas gifts

Ruth Mower
Our New Parish Administrator
Earlier this year a vestry member
suggested the need for a parish administrator who
would be in charge of the day-to-day operations of
the parish, who would not only relieve the priest of
some of those tasks, but many of us as well. In the
meantime the results of our Parish Survey revealed
the need to improve the effectiveness of our
operations which then became a goal stated in our
Parish Profile.
Among the responsibilities assigned to this
position are accounting functions to be determined by
the parish treasurer, Carol Wang, including
procurement of supplies primarily for the parish
house, the creation and production of service
bulletins and the coordination of parish activities.
We found the person who we believe fits all
of those qualifications and then some. In fact, much
to our surprise she and Father Recla once work ed
together in The Villages. She just happens to
be the current secretary of Holy Trinity Episcopal
School— Ruth Mower. In talking with both Ruth and
Headmaster Tom Boyd it was agreed that Ruth can
easily hold both positions and so do we. So the voice
you hear answering your phone call will be Ruth's.
Why not give her a call or better yet, drop by the
office to introduce yourself if you've not yet met?
Our former secretary, Elaine Grae, work ed
for us for just over three years. We appreciate her
service and are grateful for her time with us.
Joy and blessings,
Donna Bott, Senior Warden
New Tables & Chairs Donated
Thanks to a very generous anonymous donation,
the Parish has been able to purchase an additional
three 8’ conference tables and 20 additional chairs.
This gift allows us to maximize seating for Parish
events without the need to “lug” the heavy chairs from
the choir room or to rent them at considerable cost
from a party supply store.
So thank you, and God Bless you, anonymous
people!
Fellowship Plans Some Big Things!
Looking for some fun things to plan for? Why not
consider the Fellowship Folkes? This year, in addition
to our scheduled “Big 4” events, we’re looking to
expand our offerings to include Parish picnics,
outings, movies, game nights & other events.
If you’d like top become involved in planning and
developing ideas, please consider joining our merry
band. Simply see Hank Childs on Sunday mornings,
or email him at
hchilds@massmed.org
or phone at
352-430-1028.

Coffee Hour Volunteers Needed
It’s Easier Than Ever
One of the most fruitful ministries at Holy Trinity
is our coffee hour where brothers and sisters in Christ
can greet on another and get to know each other
better in our church family. It’s also a great place to
greet newcomers to our parish and make them feel
welcome.
Coffee hour is also one of our more important
ministries as it continues the fellowship of the
Eucharist into a social communion. Some changes
have been made to the schedule
and to the list of responsibilities.
to make it easier for volunteers.
First off, the coffee is
already made and hot when you
arrive. Volunteers for both
services need to set out cups
and condiments, along with any
pastries, food, and the like, and
then straighten up afterwards.
Volunteers do not have to bring in edibles, but
are certainly welcome to. Reimbursement is also
available from the Parish for any expenses related to
refreshments.
There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in
the Parish Hall. We hope all those who enjoy coffee
hour will take a turn, making responsibility much less
burdensome
.
Holy Hackers Grow, and Grow!
wow
!!! !!!! What a day we had at the Penbrooke
Fairways on May 9. There were 37 folks (10
teams) that showed up for a morning of golf followed
by lunch and libations. And what a special day it was
- 8 of the young men who have been attending the
Golf Academy, headed by our own Janet Dearcopp,
joined us today, (Shawn, Mikey, Daniel, Jeff, Howard,
Chris, Noah, and David) with the day serving as
their “graduation” ceremony from the Academy.
The students were made honorary members
of the Holy Hackers, and Tom Boyd, Headmaster of
Holy Trinity School joined us as well. Mike Browne
arranged for a reporter and a photographer from the
Daily Sun to interview the young men and their
coaches. Keep an eye out for the article, which will
provide good exposure for Holy Trinity Church &
School, the Holy Hackers, and the great folk s at
Pennbrooke Fairways.
The day’s big winners were Team "0" Judy
Neikirk , Lou Criscuolo & Harold Topping placing 4
under par. Janet Dearcopp is on injured reserve, but
rode along as caddie in charge and providing moral
support. A great time was had by one and all!
Next month's Scramble will be held on
Saturday, June 13, 2009. The sign-up sheet will be
on the Parish Hall Bulletin board. Beat the rush and
sign-up early. A big thank you to everyone that came
out to play, and all of you who are headed up North,
we’ll miss you!
Please keep Diane Donovan in your
prayers as she recovers from surgery.
